The average dog spends roughly 50 percent of her days asleep. While that sounds like a lot, consider that about eight of those hours are spent sleeping when you sleep, which means that for most of the daytime hours your pup should at least be awake, if not awake and running around. Some dogs require more sleep than others, but in general, a healthy dog will have a pretty consistent sleep schedule––you probably already know what your dog’s is.
Certain factors may affect sleep––weather, activity, commotion around the house––and it’s important to have a baseline understanding of your dog’s snoozing needs so that you can recognize if the pattern has changed.
